Bala Ashtabhuja Mata - Parna Chingam

Bala Ashtabuja Mata at Parna Chingam in Kishtwar district is an ancient and revered shrine dedicated to the Divine Mother in her eight-armed form. Nestled amidst the Himalayan landscape, the temple has long served as an important centre of Shakta worship, drawing devotees from across the region. The sacred precinct also derives significance from its proximity to the revered Sangama of the Chenab and associated mountain streams, a confluence that has been venerated by devotees for generations.
The shrine continues to preserve a vibrant tradition of devotion and pilgrimage and occupies a significant place in the spiritual life of the local community.
Traditional accounts associated with the kshetra state that Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya visited and worshipped the Goddess here. Within the temple complex are an Ishwara Liṅga, a Gaṇapati Vigraha, and an Anjaneya shrine, all believed to have received the Acharya's anugraha.
