Tarapeetha is one of the foremost Shakti Kshetras of Eastern Bharat, revered as the sacred abode of Sri Tara, the compassionate Divine Mother who guides seekers across the ocean of worldly existence. Counted among the sacred Shakti Peethas, the Kshetra is traditionally believed to be the place where the **Third Eye (Trinetra)** of Devi Sati fell, sanctifying the land for all time. The presiding deity, Sri Tara, is worshipped as the embodiment of supreme wisdom, compassion and liberating grace, while Bhairava is revered here as Sri Chandrachuda.

Tradition holds that Bhagavatpada engaged with the prevailing Tantric schools, restoring the primacy of Vedic principles while affirming the worship of the Divine Mother within the disciplined framework of Advaita Vedanta. His visit is remembered as one that harmonised diverse streams of Devi worship, integrating them into the broader spiritual vision of Sanatana Dharma while preserving the profound reverence due to the Divine Mother.
