Radha Krishna Mandir - Dimapur

A documented stop on Adi Shankaracharya's route across India.

Located in Manipuri Colony, Dimapur, the Radha Krishna Mandir is among the principal temples serving the Hindu community in Nagaland. The temple is dedicated to Sri Radha and Sri Krishna, and functions as a center for daily worship, devotional singing (bhajans and kirtans), scriptural recitation, and celebration of major festivals.
Within the temple complex stands a venerable Vata Vṛkṣa (Sacred Banyan Tree), offering a serene space for prayer and contemplation. The परिसर also houses numerous Īśwara Liṅgas, reflecting the enduring reverence for Lord Shiva alongside the temple's Vaishnava tradition, exemplifying the harmony between different streams of Sanātana Dharma.
According to Śāstric references and local recitations, two of these Īśwara Liṅgas were originally bestowed as Anugraha by Bhagavatpāda Ādi Śaṅkarācārya upon local Adivasi communities at a different location. Over time, these sacred Liṅgas came to be enshrined within the Radha Krishna Mandir complex. This living tradition preserves the memory of Bhagavatpāda's blessings and the transmission of Sanātana Dharma among the indigenous communities of the region.
Today, the Radha Krishna Mandir stands not only as a center of devotion but also as a repository of sacred traditions that unite devotion, heritage, and spiritual continuity. The temple represents the enduring presence of Sanātana Dharma in Nagaland, preserving local traditions associated with Bhagavatpāda while continuing to inspire devotees through worship, remembrance, and the timeless message of spiritual unity.
