Nai Nath Mahadev - Banskho

A documented stop on Adi Shankaracharya's route across India.

Nai Ka Nath Mandir is an ancient Shaiva shrine situated in the village of Banskho, nestled in a valley enclosed by the Aravalli ranges at a point where the Aravalli foothills begin their gradual transition toward the Haryana plains — placing the temple in the cultural and geographical borderland between Rajasthan and Haryana.
Devoted to Lord Shiva, the temple draws worshippers from Madhogarh and the surrounding villages and is regarded locally as one of the oldest shrines in the area, its antiquity embedded in the memory of the surrounding Aravalli landscape rather than in formal epigraphic record. The presiding deity is a Shivalinga — described in local tradition as svayambhu in character.
Adi Shankaracharya is believed to have visited this sacred kshetra and performed the pratishtha of a Shivalinga here, consecrating the site with his own divine sankalpa. The original linga installed by the Acharya no longer exists; the Shivalinga presently worshipped is a newly consecrated one, continuing the unbroken thread of Shaiva upasana at this ancient tirtha.
