According to local and Shastric traditions, Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya stayed at Bolpura for three days during his Digvijaya across Eastern Bharat.
During his stay, a great assembly of more than 3,000 scholars representing the Nyaya and Buddhist traditions gathered to engage Bhagavatpada in philosophical debate. The deliberations continued for three consecutive days , during which Adi Shankaracharya expounded the principles of Advaita Vedanta and addressed the questions raised by the assembled scholars.
The site is revered today as the place where this historic three-day Shastrartha took place, marking an important chapter in Bhagavatpada's mission to re-establish the Vedic tradition through dialogue and scriptural discourse.
