The Context: A taluk built of villages, a system stretched thin

Krishnarajanagara (K.R. Nagar) is one of the most rural taluks in Mysuru district — a landscape of 83 villages and small agrarian settlements, of which Yedthore is one, where families have historically depended on a thinly spread public health system for anything beyond the most minor ailment.

83

Villages in one taluk

K.R. Nagar taluk spans 608 sq. km, of which 599 sq. km — over 98% — is classified rural. Yedthore sits within this overwhelmingly agrarian landscape.

36,000+

People per rural PHC

Nationally, a single rural Primary Health Centre serves an average of over 36,000 people — a ratio that leaves little room for anything beyond the basics.

~80%

Specialist shortfall

Rural Community Health Centres across India fall short of required specialists by roughly four-fifths. Karnataka itself reports a shortfall of doctors at PHCs.

Health Camps

Multi-disciplinary care brought directly to the community

Beyond the clinic's regular days, Vedanta Bharati organises two extensive health camps every year — each spanning multiple medical disciplines, free of charge, brought directly to the community at a scale the clinic's regular schedule alone cannot reach. Diabetes screening, eye care, dental, gynaecology, and general health check-ups are offered under one roof on a single day, to anyone who walks in.

Seva is not a program we run — it is a debt we repay, one patient at a time.
